In a landmark achievement, BabyGay led the successful campaign to establish National Coming Out Day as an official Los Angeles city holiday in 2024, making Los Angeles the largest U.S. city to officially recognize the October 11th holiday. This historic recognition not only validates the significance of coming out journeys but sets a powerful precedent for cities nationwide to follow. 

Our cornerstone partnership with The Black Cat, site of a pivotal 1967 uprising that helped launch the LGBTQ+ rights movement, anchors our commitment to preserving and celebrating queer history. This historic venue hosts our annual National Coming Out Day celebration, bringing together generations of LGBTQ+ community members in the very space where our fight for rights began.

Through storytelling, mentorship, and advocacy, we're creating a world where coming out is celebrated, history is preserved, and every LGBTQ+ person has access to the support, wisdom, and community they deserve.

At the heart of our mission is the innovative Welcome-Wagon Box program, featuring handwritten SupportCards from community members who have walked similar paths. These care packages serve as a beacon of support, providing essential resources and genuine connection for those beginning their coming out journey.

Our weekly newsletter and active social media presence create a virtual community that extends beyond geographical boundaries. By sharing coming out stories, advice, and support from LGBTQ+ community members, we provide crucial connection and guidance for those who don't have access to local queer communities, ensuring no one has to navigate their journey alone.

LA Queer Events Coalition unites queer community leaders to amplify our collective power, protect our rights, and create lasting positive change for the LGBTQ+ community of Los Angeles.
